Personality & Traits

General Overview Like both of her parental races, Paisley is very smart, with a head for chemistry, general science and mathematics. She attended only Cardassian schools, starting at three years of age, where she learned many traits of leadership but does *NOT* have a photographic memory, because of the Bajoran genes she has.

Unlike her Cardassian forbearers, she isn't a warring type, BUT will argue a point if she thinks she is right. She is very caring, warm, and personable-her father said she was a "broken" Cardassian, because when he tried to get her to fight in the military, she would not.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:
-Intelligence
-Moralistic
-Brave

Weaknesses:
-acts like an airhead to distract from her pain
-low self-esteem
-is afraid of bugs
Ambitions Like anyone, Paisley just wants to live her life peacefully, and maybe move up the ranks in the Fleet. She'd like to go Command Track eventually. Someday, she'd like to have a family, and maybe even go back to Bajor.
Hobbies & Interests -Reading
-Arts and Crafts
-Tinkering with things
-Shopping

Personal History Born on Bajor but raised on Cardassia Prime, Paisley moved around the Cardassian Empire because her father is a government official. He was a Gul in the Cardassian Navy during the Dominion Wars but now serves as an Advisor to the Ruler. As such, she was raised and expected to hold a decorated military career of her own. However, because of her own idealistic morals, perhaps owing to her Bajoran mother, or to an inherent character flaw, she could not pick up arms against other species.

Her mother died in childbirth, during the failed birthing of her brother, and she's never recovered from the loss, even though she's fairly certain her mother wasn't exactly a willing participant in the marriage to her father (and birth of Paisley). She has no knowledge of her mother's family on Bajor, but hopes to meet them someday.

Once her father realized that she'd never be a decorated solider like himself, instead, he arranged for her to be married to another senior politician's son. That son, Ban'gore Ruk, was a Legate by age 29. Wanting more for her life than just being a wife or a trained, mindless killer, she left the planet in the dark of night, leaving a letter for her father that she was going to Bajor to find her mother's family, that she loved him, and would see him again someday.

After "procuring" a shuttle through a friend who had...connections (and maybe a little crush on her), she, instead, headed for open-air space. Being sighted by the Breen that kept a continual watch on Cardassian airspace, though, she was soon engaged in a battle of wits (and actual weapons). Using a wormhole, she was able to escape, but not until she sustained much damage to her ship.

Lost in the Galaxy, she floated helplessly, until she was spotted by the USS Revere Scout ship in the deepest throws of space, and was rescued. After the CO of the Revere determined her tale to be truthful, or at least as truthful as he believed a Cardassian could be, she was allowed to stay aboard, and was dropped off at Starbase 12 during a refueling.

From there, she found a contingency of CCS (Civilian Cargo Services) ships and crew that took her under their wing. She served on the CC St. Louis, under a former Starfleet captain, Commander Jamie Taylor (retired). She served as their medic, science officer, and sometimes engineer, as well as general crew.

It was onboard the St. Louis that she developed her skills as an Engineer. She'd always been interested in tinkering around, messing in the "garage" of her childhood home, taking apart things and putting them together. Her favorite items to disassemble were Old Earth radios. She finds the rudimentary technology fascinating, and has one she has made "work", but for now, it only plays static. She's in search of something called "tapes" to play in it.

Commander Taylor helped her to apply to the Starfleet Academy, using her Bajoran genealogy to justify why she isn't as war-like as her compatriots. She was accepted, and graduated last year, at the rank of Ensign. Soon, she was on the roster for several assignments. She began her career on the USS Pioneer, and from there, quickly moved up the ranks. Her service in the CCS let her to test out of the first two years of Academy, and she only did two years, plus time in service.

Service Record Civilian Cargo Corps.
- Starfleet Academy-Ens-Cdt. Commander
-At the Academy, Paisley was able to move up quickly. This was mostly due to her willingness to do hard work as opposed to any natural talent. Like most, she has been trained, not a magician.
- USS Pioneer-Ens. Engineering Officer, Damage Control Specialist.
-On the Pioneer, she was part of an away team, where she fixed the Tractor Beam of a fallen starship, allowing said ship to be towed to the Pioneer by bouncing the lights off the broken ones on the Pioneer.
- USS Columbia-LtJG. ACEO
-Here, she did general Engineering work, and again, was able to "prove" herself by always taking the assignments that required her to crawl through Jeffries' tubes, fall through the hulls, clean up CetOps tubes, etc. She's always schmaltzy but doesn't really seem to mind.
-USS Astrea-Lt., Asst. Chief Engineer.
-The Astrea was her most enlightening assignment. The Chief Engineer was an O'brien type; in the Fleet since Paisley was a little girl, and put a lot of responsibility onto her. She ran her own teams during her shifts, oversaw the (failed) installation of a prototype slipstream drive, and fixed a failed Transporter on Alpha Centauri during Shore Leave.
