After the destruction of Romulus and the primary headquarters of the Tal Shiar, the disgraced officer, Sela (descendant of Tasha Yar), quickly returned from exile and took charge of the organization after eliminating those who were opposed to her leadership.

With the goal of remaking the Romulan Empire in a manner that suits the secret organization and Sela, the Tal Shiar has let it be known that they will not serve the new Romulan government quite publicly. Since the announcement however, the Tal Shiar's activities have been very discreet. For the moment, they are willing to let the Blade of T'Kuvma take action and watch quietly.
